30 & 31 October 2021*

This spring all around Aotearoa, Garden to Table kids will be planting seeds and carefully tending their seedlings in preparation for their school’s annual seedling sale. On 30 and 31 October*, you’ll have the chance to buy their locally and sustainably-grown plants, supporting tamariki and welcoming spring to your garden.

Make sure you keep an eye on our list of participating schools below, leave room in your spring planting plans for exciting finds, and save the date to support your local school!

The Great NZ Seedling Sale is a national fundraising event that raises money for the Garden to Table programme at participating schools. It’s supported by our proud Garden to Table partner, Tui.

Every dollar from seedlings bought at school sales will go directly to support that school’s Garden to Table programme, allowing them to purchase essential items for their gardens and kitchens. Kids in our programme use full-sized tools and utensils and learn each new skill hands-on with guidance from adults, so it’s important they have the right equipment.

Garden to Table is New Zealand’s leading food education programme, with thousands of kids across the country learning to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh kai every week. In the garden, tamariki not only learn the practical skills to grow great produce, but they also explore the science behind it, as well as understanding of stewardship and kaitiakitanga of the planet. They are so proud of their gardens and can’t wait to share with you what they’ve grown!

We’ve listed schools participating in the 2021 Great New Zealand Seedling Sale below; this is updated weekly.

* These dates are a suggestion for participating schools. We will try where possible to keep the list below updated if COVID-19 measures lead to any schools postponing or canceling their seedling sales.

The best way to find out the details of your local school’s sale is to check out their social media pages or website, or contact them directly, especially close to the event date.
